North Carolina
All secondary schools in North Carolina are eligible to nominate students to compete for the Morehead-Cain. In addition, students at North Carolina schools may apply without being nominated by their school committees.
North Carolina Nominee
The North Carolina selection process begins in the fall of a student's senior year when the student is nominated for the Morehead-Cain. All secondary schools in North Carolina are eligible to nominate up to five students, depending on the size of the senior class.
The number of nominees allowed from each North Carolina school is based on the size of the senior class as follows:

North Carolina Self-nominee
Students attending schools in North Carolina may apply for the Morehead-Cain without being nominated. All nominees and applicants complete the online Morehead-Cain application form.
Students interested in applying as a North Carolina school nominee or applying as a North Carolina self-nominee should meet with their guidance counselors to learn more.
